Happy Thursday, ladies!  Please go shopping with Leigh & me for affordable summer outfits by St. John’s Bay at JCP.

Leigh Ann and I decided to check out the affordable summer outfits and discovered great selections by St. John’s Bay at JC Penney’s.

They already carry affordable summer outfits, but with the current JCP BIG BRANDS EVENT happening through Sunday (April 28), St. John’s Bay is even more affordable with 30% off.

Another affordable summer outfit tip…download the JCP APP.  I always receive more coupons through the app…and it is free for you to download.

We saw some great JCP finds this week…so come shopping today with Leigh & Me.

AFFORDABLE SUMMER OUTFITS BY ST.JOHN’S BAY AT JCP: WITH LEIGH

As we entered the store from the parking lot, this was the first display which captured our attention and Leigh Ann immediately wanted to try it on.

We were right there in the St. John’s Bay department so both of us dove in.

Leigh is modeling the St. John’s Bay Secretly Slender Mid-Rise Denim Capris in a size 8, light railroad stripe. (There are nine color options)

The top is the St. John’s Bay Womens Round Neck Sleeveless Blouse, in a size Small, the color called parachute orange. (Four colors available)

I told you we dove right in and began trying on the clothes.

But, later, walking around JCP, we discovered the PETITE DEPARTMENT…which both of us had forgotten about.

Here are the PETITE CAPRIS, on hangars so you know they have them.

I apologize that at the point we found them, we did not have time to return to the dressing room.

Leigh Ann almost went back in the dressing room to try on these Petite St. John’s Bay Womens Secretly Slender Mid Rise Capris in a print called Emma Floral.

At this point, allow me to remind you that St. John’s Bay offers not only petites and misses, but also plus and tall sizes.

Something for all of us in affordable summer outfits.

This was Leigh Ann’s favorite dress.

She is a sucker for pockets!  This is the St. John’s Bay Sleeveless Shift Dress in the color oregano, size small.

It comes in four options, and if you go to the website, it is easy to see that the hemline in the back drops just a little.  Leigh found that to elevate the dress and add to a flattering shape.

She also tried on the St. John’s Bay Sleeveless Shift Dress in a size small and print called navy paisley.

Autumns…take a look at the Tan Stripe in this design.

Leigh also added to her colors of the St. John’s Bay Womens Scoop Neck Sleeveless Tank Tops.

This is her favorite tank top for affordable summer outfits.

The Stone Beige, and red, white and blue were on her wish list.

But, at these prices…she took them home.

We ran into an old friend when we discovered Easy Spirit at JCP.

Both of us loved these Easy Spirit Womens Tnot Slip-on Shoe….and Leigh took a pair home.

I know it looks black, but it is actually navy and looks more navy on the website.  The navy is the cutest one.

That is a lovely strip of leather where the ropes are….this is a great summer shoe.

AFFORDABLE SUMMER OUTFITS BY ST.JOHN’S BAY AT JCP: WITH ME

affordable summer outfits

Affordable summer outfits by St. John’s Bay at JCP are composed of many trends we have seen in our Saturday 2024 Fashion Trends posts.

I am wearing the St. John’s Bay Womens Long Sleeve Regular Fit Button Down Shirt in the navy gingham, size XL.

I tried in on with these super soft St. Johns Bay Secretly Slender Mod-Rise Denim Capris, for a size 16.  The wash is the Dark Tavern.

I also like the fit and softness of the St. John’s Bay Womens Secretly Slender Mid Rise Denim Bermuda Short.

This is the light tinted sky wash in a size 16.

The top is the St. John’s Bay Womens Y Neck Elbow Sleeve Blouse in the multi- stripe, extra large.

This outfit really says summer to me, and the Secretly Slender options are so flattering with the fit.

This is another great pant from St. John’s Bay for your affordable summer outfits.

This is the St. John’s Bay Women’s Relaxed Fit Girlfriend Chino Pant in the Laurel Wreath color, but there are colors in this pant for every palette.

I am wearing a size 16, and I like these pants cuffed up…but, of course, you don’t have to.

The top is the St. John’s Bay Womens 3/4 Sleeve Regular Fit Button Down Shirt, in the cool plaid which is blue and green.

Note: This is a shorter and smaller top.  To get the length I wanted, I sized up to XXL…you can see that the sleeves are a little larger at the wrists.  It is also kind of low cut…at least for me.

Let’s call this next segment…IF THEY HAD MY SIZE….

Because, I definitely would have tried on this cute St. John’s Bay Womens Split Tie Neck Short Sleeve Blouse in a Stripe Seersucker.

I think this is so cute and fun with anything denim.  A bow blouse is no longer just for the office.

Here is another one of our trends for 2024…polka dots…and I know some of you like a chic summer black & white style.

This is the St. John’s Bay Womens Short Sleeve Regular Fit Button Down in black polka dot.

I touched this top and it is not see-through at all…a nice quality.

affordable summer outfits

It is possible with St. John’s Bay at JCP to be on trend with cute gingham shorts for your affordable summer outfits.

These are the St. John’s Bay Secretly Slender Womens Mid-rise Bermuda Shorts in the blue gingham square.

And, as one of the readers here said, gingham shorts would look great with a button down.  This one is not St. John’s Bay, but still in the big brands sale.

This is the Liz Claiborne Womens Long Sleeve Regular Fit Button Down  in white.

Or consider the lighter St. John’s Bay Women’s Long Sleeve Regular Fit Button Down shirt in white with tabs for a cuff up look.

I noticed that many JCP affordable summer outfits mimicked higher priced brands.

I have seen the expensive version of this shoe in higher end places….I did not try it on…but the style is the same.

This is the Pop Countess Womens Sneaker in the off white shoe.

There was so much to see when Leigh and I stopped by JCP recently.

We both believe St. John’s Bay for your affordable summer outfits is a cross between Lands End and Talbots type of styles.

  1. I was in my local JCP last week shopping for my 12 year old granddaughter and did not spend any time in Misses but I see now I need to return. I am a fan of their sleeveless shirt dress; perfect for this hot desert climate. The store here is in a mall that is undergoing ownership transition and the JCP is just a mess with dark lighting and is not a pleasant shopping experience. I know JCP can do better because their San Diego store is great! BTW I didn’t purchase anything because we could not find the junior or girls departments; I hope JCP is listening! You look great in the green top!

  2. Thanks Linda. JCP has a great store in San Antonio at North Star Mall…you maybe can see that the dressing room area is really nice. I just wish we had seen the Petites earlier.
St. John’s Bay had great selections for us to try on and very affordable.

  3. You both look great!! I bought some St John t-shirts a few years ago at your recommendation, Pam, and the quality is very good. Great clothing at good prices!

  4. hope you can help me, are capris in or out everything I read says they are out, but I see so many women wearing them and stores selling them I want to look up to date with my clothing just not sure about capris

  5. I had a coupon and stopped in the other day at JCP. Since you recommended the tees a few years ago, I buy a few every season, to wear casually and especially for travel. Anyway, I got two tanks for $1.59 each! For the money, you can’t beat the quality, and I don’t worry so much about sunscreen, melting makeup, beach sand, chlorine and assorted other summer ills ruining something expensive. I’m hard on my summer clothes and even higher end clothes don’t often hold up.

  6. I am also hard on summer clothes…so I understand needing more affordable options that launder well. JCP has them. Thanks Linda.

  7. I live in South Texas Janet and it is HOT. So, I do not care what the fashionistas say, I wear capris as a nicer option to shorts. I look better in a capri than in shorts these days.
I also like the look of capris on me as opposed to crops. “Current” is one of my style adjectives and I do my best to look current and fresh…but sometime practical makes more sense. I like the look of capris on me no matter what others say.

  8. thank you for replying back I just wanted to say I think you and Leigh looked great in everything you tried on I especially like the gingham top with the capris, I will be checking out my JC Penney near me

  9. Thank you for this post! I have been searching for capris and have come up with zero. So what a lovely surprise to see JC Penney had just what I wanted. Having you and Leigh model the items helped me visualize what they would look like since our Penney’s closed down two years and this made me comfortable ordering the pants.

  10. As I live too far from a city with a large mall, I shop on line with your links. I bought the capris Leigh Ann is wearing in the railroad stripe and I got the petite capris in the floral print you wee holding up in the picture. I also bought 2 off the tanks in navy and light blue. I even bought my husband a pair of Lee slim leg jeans while I was online with your link. I’m really set for hot weather now here in Colorado. The nearest brick and mortar store is in Pueblo, CO from us and it is very clean, bright and has wide isles. It is just hard for me to walk as far as is needed in the big stores as I’m disabled. Online works great for me. I know our sizes in JCP and rarely have to return anything.

  11. I like the St John’s Bay items you’ve shown — and the non-Petite dresses are a good length for Leigh Ann. My mom shopped Liz Claiborne a lot back in the day. They seem to be good quality too b/c they’ve held up over time. I read that pedal pushers came back on-trend with a vengeance early in the year, but the styling seems to be extremely trendy (pedal pushers, bare midriff, leather jacket) and tilted toward athletic wear. I find them hard to style to look good on me, so I’m sticking to shorts, which I have plenty of at the moment.
