Today’s News for Women over 50

Today's news

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  It is mid-week and time once again for Today’s News for Women over 50.

Thank you for being here each week to read the latest in today’s news for lifestyle information I curate for this audience.

I think it is so much easier to find these posts in one location and have someone do (my very best) to weed out some of the fluff.

Although that is more and more of a challenge every week.

I am thankful to have been trained with my journalism degree to practice some news judgement in a world that constantly operates on a constant flow of propaganda and ads.

So, know I do look at it closely and really try to get some good, helpful information for you.

Now, today, I could not locate articles for two of the categories, so this is a bit shorter than normal.  However, there is some interesting information here.

Now, let’s get cozy with our coffee or tea and read Today’s news for women over 50.

Today’s Video of the Week is very helpful and interesting for those of you drawn to the monochrome dressing trend which she calls tonal.  A lot to learn here….

Let me know if there is one thing you learned! And I will see you tomorrow…until then….

  1. Great set of articles, Pam. Thank you. I sometimes make quick pickled red onions and a quick cucumber with ginger, sugar and rice vinegar to go with rice bowls, but never thought to make a cucumber to go on sandwiches. Can’t wait to make these. I also went down the rabbit hole on her site and found a smashed kimchi chickpea salad with another pickled cucumber recipe using chili crisp. 😋 Happy news about JCP. I hope their New Jersey store is a success. I miss the little one we lost here, but still enjoy shopping their big stores up in Portland. Happy Wednesday!

  2. Happy Wednesday, Connie…if you make the recipe with kimchi chickpeas let us know how it turns out. I for one would like to know. I haven’t done much with kimchi, but, of course, Bobby Flay does!

  3. The Decluttering article was written for me! I’m about ready to go for it and scale down my closets. At 73, there are a lot of things I know I will never wear again, so I need to say goodbye to them!

  4. I do not have a journalism degree, but so appreciate you apply your knowledge to these Wednesday posts. I try to use my own critical thinking skills to what I read and listen to. And I also try to push myself out of my comfort zone a little to keep on learning. Today I put The Enchanted April n my audio book wait list. First I have to finish listening to the 45 HOURS of Barbara Streisand’s memoir. It has fascinated me. From her book I went to YouTube to watch her and Neil Diamond perform You Don’t Bring Me Flowers at the 1980 Grammys. It took my breath away.

  5. I loved that version of You Send Me Flowers…both have incredible voices. Thanks for the reminder, Linlee, I am going to listen to it right now.

  6. Do appreciate your time and effort Pamela as ‘filtering information’ definitely is a challenge in this day and age. As to what I learned new today was; that radishes can be baked (The Ethel) and that the Rose Ringed Parakeet has become a native of Paris (Country Living) as was not aware of either. Regarding the world of fashion, Jess (of Fashion & Style Edit) is one influencer that I do follow on occasion however my favourite YT Channel is MM Personal Styling (Melissa Murrell) whom I feel is a wealth of information for those who may be struggling with said subject. Oh about the 90/90 Decluttering Rule; I would use caution and consider who is preaching it …. lol!

  7. So much to love again today. The magic French cake, the parakeets in Paris, the declutter, the video, actually there was alot to enjoy. I will try the anti inflamitory diet to see if it helps the joints.
Keep up the good work, love the Wed. reading.

  8. Let me know what you think of it if you decide to do it! Would love to hear a report back!

  9. Thanks, Pam, a good selection today; you make midweek happy. I’m not a sugar person (love salt!), but the magic cake sounds good — once I cut back on the sugar. I just want to know who is hosting a French garden party and would they invite me, LOL. It sounds perfect for those of you who are already into spring. Men would hate it, I’m sure, but it sounds like an opportunity to get dressed up in all those wedding and engagement outfits we have in our closets. I’m not following the 90/90 Rule with them.

  10. I would love to have a garden party but it is already too hot and humid here. I can dream!

  11. Would you know where the classy blue jacket could be purchased that Suzane was wearing in the ‘tonal video’? The video was very informative and reminded me of several items from ‘Quince’ that you have featured. Thanks!

  12. Hi Kathye, I apologize that I have no idea about the jacket. If I can figure it out, I will let you know.

  13. @Kathye: If you go to her YT Channel and click …..more, she does list the sources of her outfits.
@Pamela: Melissa is one of the few stylists that I find who focuses on body type who has a vast video play list that you may enjoy browsing and might even wish to share as a ‘video of the week’. -Brenda-
