2024 Fashion Trends: Black & White
Happy Saturday, ladies! Welcome to another discussion of 2024 Fashion Trends: Black & White.
Classic black & white fashions are always in style, but what lands it in the 2024 fashion trends is that we will see it all year long.
Typically, black & white has been predominately in spring and summer fashions, but every now and then we see it trending across seasons.
So, of you are a lover of black & white…pull it out of the closet…and come join me today to see what I found.
It is the day when I look at all the 2024 fashion trends, so I discovered this one throughout our favorite retailers.
2024 FASHION TRENDS: BLACK & WHITE: ALL IN FOR SUMMER
A few retailers, such as Talbots, have gone all in on black & white for the 2024 Fashion Trends.
There are so many ways to wear black & white…and I have seen many options.
The most popular designs are in stripes, but as you can see there are other ways to have some fun with standard black & white.
I put together a slide show which gives you these options, but also some basics to build black & white outfits since it is in the 2024 fashion trends.
There are many selections, but here are some I believed you would want to see:

2024 FASHION TRENDS: COATS
This audience showed me that many of you are ready to think about fall with your selections from my NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE POST.
The top selling items were coats. So many preferred the cream color in this WALKER NOTCH LAPEL LONGLINE BOUCLE COAT.
And I confess to my surprise at how many ordered the oversized Nordstrom Glen Plaid Oversize Notch Lapel Coat.
There were also a couple of sales for the Ralph Lauren Logo Patch Wool Blend Jacket…but the purchases were in navy and that color is now sold out.
Thank you so much to everyone who shops with my SHOPPING LINKS, within the post and on this page.

You are so good at spotting trends for us, Pam. I’m gonna skip this one. You look stunning in the blue coat by the way , I can see why it’s been a top seller.
Thanks Kim! I don’t wear this one either but know many who love for its classic vibe.
I do love black/white or black/ ivory or even black/ camel or beige. But I’ve learned to keep the lighter color nearest my face. I think as I’ve aged and that you have pointed out- black near our older faces isn’t always flattering. Thanks for bringing this to us — being our inspiration.
Definitely a black and white gal here! I wear this combo often and have numerous tops that go with my pants dressy to casual. All of my pants are currently solids, but I’m thinking of buying a patterned black and white pair while they are still on sale. Thankfully this combination is always trendy.
Thanks for joining in Paulette…so happy to see you here today!
Yes it is, Celia. And since it is an official trend this year you will see more of it.
I’ve always loved this look and spent a lot of money buying pieces like this. Four years ago I donated all of it to the charity shop. I wish I could wear it but I’ve learned it makes me look tired and old. Fashion gurus have pushed the idea that this is a great look for everyone. Its not. And I still wish I could wear it. Happy Saturday.
It is a great option for cool palette ladies! I agree not everyone, but that’s ok.
This would have so been in my wheelhouse when I was in my “winter” phase. Now it’s actually one of my worst combos, worse even than just black or white alone. In addition to recently seeing tons of black and white, I was out and about shopping for fall the other day, and saw lots and lots of cream/ivory with black. That I likely could wear. Black and camel looks so elegant to my eye. I continue to wear black pants, and a lower contrast print/striped/trimmed top or sweater with golden camel (a really good color on me) and just a little black might look great. I will keep my eye out.
Thanks for sharing what you see while shopping, Linda!
my go to colors in prints and solids I do like to add some color sometimes my favorites are red and brighter blue also add color with jewelry mixing and matching is very easy right now I’m really liking the red bottoms with a white and black top I got from Chicos
Thanks for sharing Janet! Black, and white and red is beautiful.
I am envious of those who can wear back and white and look stunning. I used to wear a lot of it, especially in the summer when I tanned. . I realize now that it wears me. Talbots had beautiful displays yesterday. As I have said before, when younger, I could get away with looks that now I can’t. I am not one who wears whatever I want. I like to think that I now stick to the colors that look best on me. It is so much easier to shop my deep autumn colors. When I am naughty, I usually add a touch more soft or vibrant from the autumn collection. Thank you, Pam, for keeping us up on the trends.
I have always liked black and white. I especially like the black and white dress and top you show from Talbots.
Talbots has many black & white garments right now and more planned ahead.
Great for some cool undertone ladies and those who can wear high contrast. I’ll sit this one out.
There are many of those ladies around.
I’m sitting this one out. Never have been able to wear with white or black near my face. Just not in my color palette. However, I have found my cool airy blues this year and have stocked up. I wear white on my bottoms and my color on top. Same with black. Usually I go for navy instead of black. I have a little color right now from our morning dog walks which allows a little leaway on white background tops. Today I’m in one with navy ikat design and white Bermuda shorts and white sneakers. By having the top with the navy print near my face, I can wear it without paling out. Thank you for showing trends. I enjoy seeing them even if I can’t wear them.
I wear black & white year-round. I have even gotten on board for wearing my white jeans before Memorial Day, if the weather permits. I often add a touch of red or another bright color but am perfectly comfortable wearing just black & white. I have received compliments doing this. Of course, I am on the cool end of the color spectrum.
Thank you for speaking out for cool ladies!
Love black with various shades of white as always found the combination an easy formula for a capsule wardrobe. -Brenda-
My entire wardrobe , with the exception of a few pink shirts and t’s is black and white. It’s a combo I’m comfortable with, and find when i try to go to colors., i don’t wear the tops….But the blue coat is gorgeous…..I’m stuck in a rut, color wise , but I like it……..great article….I also have no idea what I am on the color spectrum but somehow I don’t look too awful….
If you are confident with your style…then you don’t look awful at all!
Thanks Brenda!
I think navy and white is just as pretty as this one.
I wear black and white, but prints or stripes for the top with the black on pants and skirts.
Like so many other “autumn” ladies here, I have given up wearing black for the most part as I have aged. During my professional career I built my work wardrobe on black and ivory at the suggestion of my mentor, who told me “Any item of clothing looks more expensive in black.” I learned to shop the sale racks for quality suits and separates that coordinated, and rarely deviated from that formula until I was nearing retirement. I wear black dresses when I am coordinating weddings and funerals, and I wear black jeans and jeggings in the winter paired with sweaters in my best colors. I’m always on the lookout for nice black “event dresses” and saw some in your slide show I need to check out. Instead of stark white I try to combine it with ivory, which seems to work better with my coloring. I have two summer tops that are black and ivory and one sundress, so I’m going to move them to the front of the closet and try to wear them while this combo is trending. As always, thanks for making us aware of these trends, and for finding so many great options at all price points.
Thanks Audrey.
I wear black on the bottom too Lorri and I love a beautiful cream color.
