2024 Fashion Trends: Elevated Athleisure

2024 Fashion Trends

Happy Saturday, friends!  It is that day of the week when we look at 2024 Fashion Trends, today being elevated athleisure.

Athleisure wear has become very popular in the past four years, and now, some brands have decided to go past the traditional designs and elevate athleisure to new places.

This lands elevated athleisure squarely in the 2024 fashion trends, because it is appearing in many favorite brands.

Traditionally, athleisure wear is defined as: track suits, sports jackets, hoodies, yoga pants, tights, leggings, and shorts.

The designs for these pieces have, for the most part, been the same.

Now?  Well, let’s look at what makes athleisure in the 2024 fashion trends more elevated.

2024 FASHION TRENDS: ELEVATED ATHLEISURE DESIGNS

2024 Fashion Trends

As women now wear athleisure clothing for every day casual clothing (sometimes more), several brands have begun to offer elevated design as part of the 2024 fashion trends.

I am particularly taken with what Talbots has created with their athleisure for travel called Passport.

The designs of sleeves and the fit make these looks very elevated for however you choose to wear them.

I am wearing in the first picture the PASSPORT PONTE ZIP MOCKNECK PULLOVER…I am wearing black, but it does come in blue and burgundy…this was the only one in my size.

The only pants in my size were the burgundy and I do love these pants.

Plus, the sleeves on the top are so chic, stylish and flattering.  I know the picture is difficult to see that.

The pants are the PASSPORT PONTE PINTUCK STRAIGHT LEG PANTS.  Very comfortable…love the fit and the length.

Chico’s has also elevated the Zenergy collection with design elements and a few unique pieces.

I purchased this Zenergy Primordial Forest Scuba Caviar outfit for my new life which I believe may be more casual.

And if you love leopard…check out the Zenergy Leopard Print Side Panel Leggings.

The Zenergy collection has a variety of tops and outfits which are not traditional athleisure wear.

2024 FASHION TRENDS: ELEVATED ATHLEISURE FABRICS

2024 fashion trends

The main key to elevated athleisure in the 2024 fashion trends are the fabrics….which these brands…Talbots, Chico’s, Spanx, J.JILL, and some Quince are doing very well.

In case someone here does not know about ponte, the definition of ponte is:

“Ponte is a thick, double-knit fabric that is used to make clothing. It is known for being soft, structured, stretchy, warm, and breathable. Ponte is also reversible and has a subtle sheen.”

However, not all ponte is the same.

One of the reasons I do not have a slideshow for you today, is because I have not felt the fabrics of other lines…how luxurious and soft they are compared to the brands I have for you today.

And those brands have athleisure in the 2024 fashion trends that make you want to live in the garments….and not take them off.

Spanx Air Essentials is expensive, but it feels amazing and for elevated athleisure wear their ponte does not wrinkle…excellent for travel.

The 2024 Fashion Trends of elevated athleisure are also in many colors (other than traditional neutrals) and include several different pant designs….not all are wide-leg.

If anyone would like to recommend an ELEVATED athliesure brand, please make sure that the design is special and that you personally have touched or worn the fabrics.

2024 FASHION TRENDS: FALL OUTFITS

Several fashion sites are calling burgundy the top color in the 2024 Fashion Trends, and several of you will be ready in this blazer at Talbots.

This is the TAILORED STRETCH BLAZER and it was the stop seller in burgundy, but several purchased the dark teal with the matching CABLE KNIT V NECK SWEATER VEST in the dark teal.

  1. I’m sure “elevated athleisure” is comfortable but personally I am not a fan. It brings to mind the velour track suits from the 1980s. I can see how it would be good for travel, yard work and lounging in the evening. Its practical for women running errands after yoga or the gym and certainly for playing with their grandchildren. But I don’t dress up for the yoga studio; I’m fine exercising my pair of yoga pants the tee shirts with the little holes in them. And have my old clothes for yard work and heavy cleaning. But for someone with a more casual vibe than me I can see the appeal.

  2. These fabrics really helped me when recovering from surgery and many of the elevated designs can be dressed up or down…nothing like those old track suits! 😂

  3. Hey, now!! I had one of those velour track suits, Sergio Valenti. 😄 It was navy blue, a gift from my college boyfriend, and aside from being comfy, I looked good. 😁
Nowadays, I stick to my two pair of black yoga pants bought from Costco years ago. One is a little paint splattered, so remains an indoor pair, but the other is my go-to for the Y where I find it easy to slip into and out of for swim class. I should probably refresh in this category, but it’s not as inspiring to me as other fashion. BTW, I saw J.Jill has 30% off sale today in their Wearever line. 40% ongoing in their clearance sale. 😉 Happy 🥕🫛 Saturday!

  4. I like athleisure especially that ivory suit. I don’t have any and am looking for at least one outfit. I’m looking at Landsend as I know their fit and fabric which is very soft knit terry on the inside. On pain flare days it would be nice to slip into soft stretchy pants and top. It also gives me a chance to wear pale colors instead of jeans. Happy Saturday!

  5. I readily admit that I have been very slow to jump into the athleisure wear, but I am intrigued by the Passport line at Talbott’s. While I have not had the opportunity to feel the fabric, some of the pieces look more tailored than the traditional looks. I still won’t be buying any joggers because of bad memories from a previous time in my life, but I might try some of the ponte pieces. Some of the price points are a bit steep, but if I would wear them out & about that might lower the cost per wear. I still won’t be paying $$$ for a sweatshirt that I would only wear at home.

  6. I agree, Becky…the cost per wear must make sense. The fabrics in the new Talbots collection are wonderful.

  7. I might try some of the pieces from Chicos Zenergy that I know I could wear other places too. I do not love ponte as I feel it shows every bump, and travel clothing is not something I would buy special pieces for. I tend to travel in nice black pull on pants more like the Eileen Fisher or Macys INC, the fabric is dressier and takes care of two needs at once-travel and dinner out. I guess I’m not much of a lounger, and my yoga pants do for that class. For sweaty exercise class and weights, I wear 7/8 leggings and a running tee. For someone who enjoys the concept, elevated athleisure might be fine. But not for me.

  8. Love the new leisure wear outfits and most have what they are calling scuba wear material is soooo soft.
