2024 Fashion Trends: Satin Maxi Skirts
Happy National Pumpkin Day, everyone! Welcome to my weekly feature. Today, we look at 2024 Fashion Trends: Satin Maxi Skirts.
This is one of the trends in the 2024 fashion trends that is popular with all ages.
It seems that the majority of brands feature the satin skirts, but there are a few who designed these skirts in silk, and some who label them slip skirts.
Another note, is that the majority style these skirts with untucked tops…especially, popular are sweaters.
The satin maxi skirt in the first picture is the QUINCE WASHABLE SILK MAXI SKIRT, which comes in 11 colors.
It pairs well with the QUINCE LIGHT WEIGHT COTTON CASHMERE LINK-STITCH DOLMAN SWEATER in five colors.
Something I noticed in my research is many places have very affordable prices on these skirts.
So, join me, and let’s take a look….

2024 FASHION TRENDS: IN MY WORLD
It seems in the past two years, I have seen more garments which I call flowy, effortless, and feminine style.
These satin skirts in the 2024 fashion trends strike me the same way.
During the time of my youngest son’s wedding, I became a huge fan of washable silk…like the top I am wearing here…which I wore out shopping one day last week.
So, this is just a reminder that QUINCE does carry several WASHABLE SILK GARMENTS.
Now, I look for it…particularly when shopping boutiques.
Do any of you wear this 2024 fashion trend? What do you think of the look with a satin skirt and sweater over it?
Please share any thoughts you have on the 2024 Fashion Trends: Satin Maxi Skirts…and hopefully, I will see you tomorrow! Until then….

What is always on trend this time of year is a love of pumpkins!
National Pumpkin Day is October 26…this is an official day to celebrate one of the most beloved symbols of autumn…Pumpkins!
I know I am a fan…celebrate pumpkins today!
I haven’t seen this trend out and about yet, but it’s pretty and very feminine. It looks like they are suggesting it for everyday wear, which wouldn’t work for me in this life stage that is mainly about grandkids and volunteer work. I love my washable silk blouse from Quince that you shared with us earlier this year, but somehow the satin skirts remind me of a slip or lingerie. (Showing my age, I know.) For a dressy event I can see wearing a matching luxe fabric blouse and skirt, but for now this is a trend I’ll just observe. Maybe by the holidays I’ll feel differently; I can see these looks looking appropriate at a wide variety of holiday events.
Soo elegant, more ways to wear, like all! I have a pink one i wear with a short sleeved white short sweater so dressy to church and my husband said I looked like I’m getting dressed to go to the white house lol.
Thanks for starting things off today, Lorri!
OOOOOO…that is some complement, Debra! Thanks for sharing that you make this trend work for you!
I love the look of the satin skirt and soft sweater. I have been contemplating it for two years. I just don’t have the occasion to wear it, and looking back, I can’t think of an occasion that I would have worn it. Last year we spent Christmas at an old farmhouse and hiked the grounds. This year we are going to Quebec City and will need long underwear! I do love the look! I would want midi, not maxi length and be sure that it was cut on the bias. If I ever saw Talbot’s teal skirt on deep discount, I might buy it. I think it is a classic look that I could dress down for my ‘natural classic’ style, even in the summer with a simple top. Thanks for showing this. I would love a substantial pair of ankle length slacks in satin or brocade, or a brocade jacket. I love that outfit on you, posed in the dressing room.
Yes this trend is everywhere here! Holiday wear has taken over October! ( or so it seems). I like it. I’m not sure I have the right shoes or slender booties to wear with these skirts as I don’t like the chunky loafer or boot look ( personally), though I see some worn this way.
Thank you for sharing Pam!
Thanks Deborah…I feel the same way…I love the look, but not sure where I would wear it.
The satin midis (I know you are pointing out the maxi trend) have been on nearly every fashion site for a few years, yet I can honestly say I’ve never seen one styled casually around here. I’ve never tried one on, because my tummy is so puffy. I wonder if unflattering midsections are why they are all being styled with the sweaters out, vs the tucking trend I’m seeing with pants (with belts). They do represent the juxtaposition of very casual with dressy, which I first noticed with athleisure and really seemed to take off coming out of the pandemic, when people were addicted to comfort and working from home, but had huge traditional work wardrobes to work though (and retailers were left with large inventories to get rid of). A satin skirt worn around here would be in serious jeopardy from autumn mud and slushy winter snow. In any case, this is too feminine for my style, so I’m passing on them.
Thanks Linda…Happy Saturday!
Ironically, I pulled out my satin skirt yesterday (it’s a medium green). I purchased one for myself and two daughters a couple of years ago. I’m glad they’re still in. I plan to style mine with a couple of different jackets. Happy Saturday, Pam!
Hi, Pam. I really like maxi skirts, but haven’t tried a satin one. It is an appealing look, and I might have to jump on this wagon. I didn’t know that it’s pumpkin day but today I’m baking the Butterscotch Pumpkin muffins that one of your readers sent to you and you featured on 9/22. 🎃
I think they are pretty, but don’t see me wearing enough here in the rainy Pacific Northwest. I don’t go to a dressy occasion more than once or twice a year.
Have fun with it, Kim. Happy Saturday!
Thanks for the reminder…I need to revisit that recipe! Thanks Marcia.
Thanks for being here, Kathy!
The satin maxi skirts look lovely on the models and I like the way they are styled. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone here wearing one around here. People are pretty casual here in the mountains and skirts I see most are denim, suede or ethnic inspired fabrics. I don’t wear maxi skirts. I love a midi skirt but would not buy one in satin since I can’t imagine where I would wear satin these days. Its a nice style but not one that fits my style or lifestyle at this stage in my life. Thanks for showing this trend.
Thanks for joining in, Kathie. Happy Saturday!
I’m a mountain woman also and a satin maxi skirt would stand out in not a good way here. Maybe to a wedding. It is very pretty on the models but not so much on short, very short fluffy middles 80 year olds. Thanks for showing us this lovely 1930s trend. Bias cut silk was very Hollywood in the films from the 1930s. It is so rich looking. But I think it would not be a look for me even if we went up to Denver.
These skirts are pretty, but not for me. I am considering a velvet skirt for this holiday season though, hopefully in a pretty green or blue that I could wear with a cream colored cashmere sweater or a pretty cream blouse.
Thanks Sydney for sharing some fashion history!
Sounds lovely, Connie. Perfect for the holidays.
The satin skirts are pretty but being only 5’1 they don’t look good on us shorties. I’ve seen them in a few stores.
