A morning in Buffalo Gap, TX
Happy Friday, everyone! This week went fast, so let’s end it with a post featuring my morning in Buffalo Gap, TX.
You started this week going with me to a clothing & gift boutique in downtown Abilene, and today I take you to a cute country town, Buffalo Gap, TX.
Last Saturday, Mr. B ran his first organized off-trail race at Abilene State Park and it is located near Buffalo Gap, TX.
Buffalo Gap is only about 15-20 minutes from Abilene.
So, he suggested that I meet him in Buffalo Gap at a popular country cafe….The Gap Cafe.
A MORNING IN BUFFALO GAP, TX: WHAT I WORE
On that day, the morning temps were in the 50s, so a
denim jacket and jeans worked…it has since then warmed up considerably.I purchased this scarf in the Talbot’s Red Door Sale and it was from last fall’s collection. The colors in it are perfect for my warm wardrobe.
And, this Talbots PIMA CREWNECK TEE in the burnt copper color is a new favorite color and tee in my wardrobe…love this color so much.
I love this green leather Patricia Nash Crossbody.
I purchased it one day over the summer during a special…I was so pleased to get it at a low price. of $59…amazing for this brand.
Every now and then it is worth it to put up with flash sale notifications.
I arrived early into Buffalo Gap, TX…but actually I am known for arriving everywhere early.
See the cute little buffaloes on the street signs?
Since I was so early, I spotted a older home across the street that appeared to be a country shop…and it was.
So, off I went.
A MORNING IN BUFFALO GAP, TX: THE COUNTRY MARKET STORE
On this country autumn morning, I discovered a gem that is the rustic vibe I love so much.
The Country Market Store is owned and run by the Perini Ranch…which owns the cafe as well, and a delicious steakhouse we have been to before we moved here.
It captured my attention from the autumn decor outside of the house all the way into the house.
And I made a new friend who lives neat me.
Meet Penney.
I loved her cute country overalls for working in the country store.
She helps out there occasionally and also moved to Abilene with her husband to be near family.
Penney showed me the various rooms and lines the store carries including a children’s room, and gardening area.
I spoke with another shopper who had just received the cookbook as a gift from her realtor, and said the recipes were excellent.
I actually saw many gift ideas for my family.
Plus, they also sell meat from the Perini Ranch…some fresh some frozen. Mr. B wants us to check that out next time we go by.
While I was there, several families came in to pick out their farm fresh pumpkins.
I was easily in the store over an hour chatting with Penney and looking over what they have.
Then, Mr. B wanted to return to the store after we ate…lots of fun this country morning.
Penney said that I must come back after they decorate for Christmas..she said it is magical.
I am a sucker for a great Christmas shop!
This little Country Market Store is a new favorite….and Penney and I are going to try to meet up for lunch.
A MORNING IN BUFFALO GAP, TX: THE GAP CAFE
We finally made it to another destination in Buffalo Gap, TX that we will return to….The Gap Cafe.
From the Cowboy Coffee to the Chicken Fried Jalapenos, we enjoyed all of it…delicious.
Mr. B Is always famished after a race…so he was happy to test the chicken fried steak and french fries.
You can tell by their Specials Board that this is a creative chef.
Of course, Mr. B’s medal from the race was a buffalo! The largest one he has received yet…and he has quite a collection.
I, on the other hand, am having fun exploring the new community…and next time I return to Buffalo Gap, TX, I will take in the flea market…it was packed that morning.
Thanks for joining me for a morning in Buffalo Gap, TX…hope you are having fun coming along for the ride…see you tomorrow for more fashion in the 2024 Fashion Trends…until then…

What a fun visit to a new place and you made a new friend. Judging by her outfit, Penny must be such an outgoing, friendly person…just like I feel you are, Pam. And her store looks so pretty with so many interesting objects. A lovely find I near your new home!
Pamela, thanks for sharing. This looks like so much fun. You look super cute in your outfit, and Penny is darling. How good to make a new friend!! Hope you will take us back to this store at Christmas.
What a great find! And also a new friend! I really might have to make a stop there when we visit Dallas next time. I just love fall decorations and that store looks wonderful. I always love country store like that. Thanks for taking us there.
She was joyful and friendly and I was really happy to meet her. Glad you enjoyed the visit, Celia.
I do plan to return…can’t miss what they described about Christmas. Thanks Marcia!
I do as well, Paula. I was so happy to find this right near where I now live. My kind of store.
This was fun for us too, love the name of town!
Loved your outfit, will try to copy, plus I have a rust colored shacket to switch with also. Cool in morning but hot after, so far only need a flannel shirt.
Love your post this morning, Pamela! Thank you so much for taking us along. Can’t wait to see the shop decorated for Christmas!
That is why I post outfits that I cannot provide links for…to inspire you to copy styles you like. Thanks Debra…have fun with it!
Yes…I can’t wait and will share.
What a charming shop, and delightful new friend! Yeah, Mr. B!! Also loving all the buffalo; you might not imagine it up here in Oregon, but we have a buffalo ranch on the road out to our old mountain ranch, not 15 minutes away. No cute store out there, but those animals are impressive! Then there’s a rancher who keeps a few longhorn cattle across the way, too, so maybe we have a little Texas in us up here. đź’•
I lived in Buffalo Gap for 10 years. It has grown so much. My son moved from there earlier this year. Many good memories of the flea market and Perinis. Can’t miss the bread pudding. I have the original Perini cookbook. It’s a great gift!!
So happy to hear Mr B found his running community in your new home.
Sounds like you do have a little Texas…we see longhorns around here often. Thanks for sharing a touch of Oregon, Connie.
Thanks for sharing…love that you are a former resident. The bread pudding sounds delish!
He has found a touch…but is still dealing with an ache in his heart of saying farwell to his running friends in South Texas.
What a fun post! I love shops like that and I hope we’ll see more of Penney on the blog. She looks and sounds like a great gal.
We just met but she does seem to be a lot of fun. Hoping to get together with her soon.
I like her Sun Bonnet Girl overalls.
I love hearing about your new life – more please!
Pretty cute!
I will, Tess!
What a darling shop. Buffalo Gap sure looks like a fun town to visit. How nice that you are making new friends already. Penney is so cute in her country outfit. I’m happy to hear Mr. B is racing again and he will also be making new running friends. I’m enjoying touring your new surroundings with you.
What a great little village to visit! I love the store and could definitely go down the rabbit hole in there! I love the pottery on the table scape. Beautiful and rustic, my colors. Yes, please take us along with you on your Christmas visit. Your outfit looks great and is perfect for the cooler mornings. It is still only 53 degrees here at noon! It is sunny so a nice dog walk is coming up for Trix.
Thanks Kathie…I hope he meets some more runners. He needs that.
Enjoy your walk, Sydney!
What fun to discover this delightful shop! I can’t wait for you to share their Christmas decor. I had lunch with a group of ladies yesterday at a place we had been to previously, & we all remembered the candy store next door. In addition to hand dipped chocolates, handmade turtles & marshmallows & fudge, the store also features cute gifts & paper goods. Of course, they are currently in Halloween & Thanksgiving mode, but I anticipate visiting again for Christmas.
My new town has a chocolate shop that I need to visit…thanks for the reminder. One year I found chocolate turkeys and I want to see if they have something like that for Thanksgiving. Thanks Becky.
That sure is a neat little town, I’d go crazy in that shop. Your food looked good. Loved your Patricia Nash purse. Hope you post again from there if you go when it’s Christmas decorated.
I will, Linda!
So excited to see you’ve found a new friend, along with a special place to shop. I’m adding Buffalo Gap to the list of potential spots I’ll be taking my visitors from New Zealand in January. I was trying to think of a quintessential Texas small town, and that could be it. You chose the perfect outfit; in fact, I loved that scarf so much I managed to find it on eBay! Looking forward to needing layers in the mornings; it is still incredibly hot in the DFW area, at least through next week. I am trying to focus on how the drought means no mosquitos, and just imagine how that first cool week will feel. My closet is almost ready, and I can’t wait! Thank you for finding time to share your new community with us, as busy as I know you are with the ongoing process of nesting there. Hoping you will get to spend time enjoying Halloween with your grandkids next week. I’ve bought my grandson’s costume this year and can’t wait to see him enjoy being a Power Ranger for the evening.
I join you in desiring the first time we know cool breezes will stay longer than a day! Next week is going to be crazy around here, but I will explain more later.
Thanks!
I am curious about the QVC link. Can you describe it more? Have not heard of it before. Thanks.
QVC is a home shopping network that many love. If you are familiar with HSN, then QVC is the same. The offer sizing consistency and special deals for their shoppers and many top designers will occasionally do collections just for them. If you spend some time on the site, I think you will understand what they are doing. Hope that helps, Mary.
