Welcome to our weekly roundup of news for women over 50 which I call Today’s News for Women over 50.…I search the world of news and grab articles to share which I believe may be of assistance to you in your over 50 lifestyles.  I truly hope they help and that you find something of interest for you in today’s list.  So, let’s go, ladies!

BABY, IT’S HOT OUTSIDE

I know many of you are enjoying gardening more this year as the pandemic has sent many home for awhile.  So, I thought you might enjoy this article from Southern Living called HEAT-TOLERANT CONTAINER GARDENS FOR SWELTERING SUMMERS.

WHO WOULD’VE KNOWN??

I love sustainable ideas where we can find new ways to reuse items we usually toss, who would have known this is a way to reuse mascara brushes.  From Good Morning America, consider HERE’S HOW YOUR USED MASCARA WANDS CAN HELP SAVE WILDLIFE.

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE

Here is an article with sustainability and good health in mind, (it’s a little convicting)!).  Read from The Daily Meal,  25 GROCERY ITEMS YOU SHOULD STOP BUYING.

LONG AS WE ARE THINKING GROCERY

AARP is a good place to find information which warns us in order to save our budgets.  I know many go to the big box stores thinking they will save money, but here is a warning to pay attention to the next time you head over.  From AARP, read 5 WAYS WAREHOUSE CLUBS TRY TO TRICK SHOPPERS INTO SPENDING MORE

MORE IDEAS FOR YOUR MENUS

SHE WAS THE LAST CHOICE

I love reading WHERE ARE THEY NOW stories of my favorite television stars from my past so this article about Karen Grassle from Little House on the Prairie captured my attention and I though some of you might enjoy reading about her.  From Fox News, enjoy LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE STAR KAREN GRASSEL SAYS SHE WAS FLAT BROKE BEFORE PLAYING MA.

  1. I’m on my way out the door to church, so will come back to read the longer articles. I LOVE the idea of sending used mascara wands to help wildlife!! That is so cool and I’m saving this information to participate!

  2. Thanks again for the news summary. Really enjoy checking several of the articles. The best to you

  3. Some very interesting articles, several of which I reposted to my FB account. It’s so easy to “go down that rabbit hole “ from one article to another to another. I realize I spend way too much time on my iPad daily, reading, and looking from one article to another. Sadly, I’m not reading books as I used to before politics became such a large consumer of my time.

I hope you are having a restorative weekend after your grandchildren adventures last week. Making great memories can often be exhausting.

  4. I appreciate what you are saying Celia…there is much out there to read these days and that is why I curate articles for women in one place. I would like to ask that you repost my entire post …rather than the individual articles…because, YES, it does help me with my new focus to provide for myself and this blog. I really appreciate that consideration. Thanks!

  5. Will be glad to do that, Pam! I think when I go from one article to another and another, all beginning with one article from you, there are some that end up being far afield from your articles. But for the sake of your newest venture, I can certainly do that since I do want you to continue.
