Sunday Mornings at Home

Sunday Mornings at Home

Happy Sunday, friends.  Welcome to Sunday mornings at home!

For the new followers (so glad to have you), allow me to explain Sunday mornings at home.

In my desire to be more than a fashion blogger, I have added this lifestyle post once a week and it has been well received by the audience.

On Sundays, we discuss a variety of topics from recipes…to home decor…to some style…to my life…to what is going on with some of the ladies in this community…I mean a variety of topics.

At the time I selected the name Sunday mornings at home, Mr. B and I were attending church on Saturday evenings.

That has changed…though since surgery I have watched our services online…but before that we had returned to Sunday services.

I say all that to explain that I may not be home on Sunday mornings and commenting quickly, but the name has stuck.

It represents a moment to be cozy, still, and reflect on the past week and the week ahead….no matter whether we read in the morning or later in the day.

For now, everyone, get your warm cozy beverage and let’s talk …..in Sunday mornings at home together.

SUNDAY MORNINGS AT HOME:  WINTER HOME DECOR

Sunday mornings at home

The first week of 2024 has been invigorating…with a new focus on my word-of-the-year, STRENGTH.

That alone has motivated me to get back out and about, and to begin to change over my home decor from Christmas to Winter Vibes.

I told you recently I was going to keep my “charcuterie” board inspiration for a winter dining table after using it for a Christmas table.

After Christmas, I like to keep some lights around and to embellish with pine cones…for my rustic inspired home decor.

This bowl was a gift from Leigh Ann she found in a local home decor boutique called JOYEUX HOME DECOR…gotta love that name!

It looks like a heavy stone bowl…but is actually paper mâché!   Gorgeous bowl and so light!

Just like JJILL’s Color of the year from the Saturday Post, I am enjoying a splash of orange.

At the same store, Leigh Ann also found for me my favorite word in blue and white…like the family Victorian English Canterbury Vintage Dishes in my china cabinet.

I love that I can keep JOY around after taking it down in my Christmas decor.

When I first met Mr. B, he was living in his grandparents home.

After we married, and I moved in, I found a set of these dishes shoved back in a kitchen cabinet.  I have been thrilled to display them ever since that day.

Please send me any winter home decor (like you did with the holiday decor) and I will share how you keep a touch of the season in your home.

Just send the images by email to over50feeling40@gmail.com!

SUNDAY MORNINGS AT HOME: STRENGTH & JOY

Sunday mornings at home

STRENGTH has been on the minds of all of us this past week since I selected to focus on the word here.

One of you…who wishes to remain anonymous…sent me a picture of a bracelet she wears as a reminder to have courage and strength every day.

This is a word which will help us to get through our difficulties…and it goes hand in hand with JOY!

I wanted to share with you one of my devotional readings this week…God has a way of saying exactly what we need at just the right time.

Sunday Mornings at Home

This is from a Sarah Young devotional titled:  “Jesus Always”

And remember Nehemiah 8:10….

SUNDAY MORNINGS AT HOME: NEXT WEEK

Sunday mornings at home

So far the response to the blog tweaks last week have been good…I may have another tweak this week.

There were great conversations last week on personalizing our wardrobes; street style in Italy; Banana Republic Factory finds; and strength training.  Make sure you take time with the posts and the comments!

Tomorrow, Leigh Ann & I go shopping again…I hope you will join in the fun.

Always let me know when you have questions or ideas or needs…I want to be here for you and encourage you to

STAY STRONG & KEEP SMILING!!

By Pamela Lutrell

I was encouraged to explain more about my SHOPPING LINKS page and how to use it.  (In fact I just added a few new brands to the list)

I am an affiliate for many different brands and when you click on those brands and shop, then I receive a small commission.

This is such an important income for me and my family.

I have tried to include the brands most shopped by this audience, but sometimes I miss one of your favorites.

If you will tell me what you are shopping, then I can tell you if I am affiliate for them and give you that link…if it is not already on the page.

And remember to send your recipes and home decor with pictures to over50feeling40@gmail.com.  Send to email and do not try to put in comments! YOU are the best.

Also, remember that the clearance sales this year have been pretty amazing.

  1. Thanks Jean…I know for me that living joyfully helps to keep me strong! Of course, I love that JOY is your word.

  2. Hi Pam,
We are in the wonderful throes of moving to HI (oh my! ). I have been reading your posts and so happy to see that you are progressing in your healing, and your strength! Your posts have been encouraging to me in this very stressful season. Yesterday seeing Leigh Ann’ s beautiful smile was sunshine to me, and today, seeing your post from Sarah Young was touching. I read Sarah’s books every evening. I would encourage everyone to pick up her devotionals. She was a beautiful woman who struggled with her health for many years, but she never wavered in her faith, but always looked for the joy Jesus provided in her daily walk. You look beautiful as always, Pam. Thank you for sharing your mission of looking and feeling good in this season of our lives. ❤️

  3. I’m embracing your chosen word -strength !
There are many life situations where focusing on thinking with strength and being generally strong will help me. Example: Strong enough to say no sometimes.

  4. Thank you, Linda. I pray that your move will go well and will provide new joy and blessings! God has used Sarah Young’s words in my life to bring me closer to Him and increase my joy and strength.

  5. So true, Paulette…I also need to be stronger to say no at times…powerful thought.

  6. You will know tomorrow! Hope to see you then for another try on session with Leigh Ann.

  7. Thank you for sharing your devotional reading, Pam! It really spoke to me. I have a heavy week of medical appointments and procedures beginning tomorrow, so I need to remember that He is my joy and strength in spite of adversity!

  8. Adding you to the prayer list, Elaine! It is also powerful to pray the words right out of the Bible over your situation. Thanks for letting us know.

  9. I love your winter tablescape & your joy decoration. I thought the bowl was stone & thought how heavy it must be. To find out it was paper mâché was quite a surprise. I also love the reader’s bracelet. Please thank her for sharing it with us. I can’t tell you how many times God has provided me devotions that seem to be written just for me. He is so good.

  10. Thank you for the Sarah Young quote, which could not be more timely for me today. I’m at that point most people reach shortly after starting a new exercise routine and overdoing it, and this has inspired me to stick with my new walking and chair yoga regimens, even though everything but my hair hurts today. I love the winter decor ideas and I’m in the process of switching out Christmas for winter today. I’ll have to send a photo of my “winter” mantle when I finish it. I love how your “joy” plaque matches those heirloom dishes so closely! Thank you for sharing these snippets of your home life and decor with us – I always feel like I’ve had a chat with an old friend when I read your Sunday morning posts. Here’s to a joyful week ahead!

  11. Hi Lorrie, I also am sore from chair yoga!! But that does mean we are doing something so hang in there! Would love to see your decor!

  12. I don’t comment often but particularly enjoy your Sunday blog. I do read you every day. The Sarah Young devotional you shared keeps popping up in my life as two more friends shared it this week. I felt as though it was to get my attention! I love your winter decor. Praying you continue to heal and have a great New Year!

  13. Thanks for sharing the Sarah Young devotional. Just what I needed too.
So glad you are feeling stronger!
Love your choice of strength! Blessings always
